Privacy policy
What Fixert keeps about you, who sees it, and for how long. The apps are built to share as little as possible: your address, your location and your card stay yours until a job needs them, and some of it never reaches us at all.
Who we are
Fixert is run by Fixert Ltd, which decides how the information described here is used. Write to support@fixert.co.uk about anything on this page.
What we keep
If you book Fixers
- Your account: your name, email address, and phone number if you give one. Your password is stored by the sign-in service in a form that cannot be read back.
- Your photo, if you add one.
- Your addresses: the street, postcode and the point on the map, so a Fixer can find you.
- Your jobs: what you wrote about each one, the timers, the costs approved, and the receipt.
- Payments and your wallet: amounts, dates, and the reference Stripe gives each payment. Not your card.
- Ratings and reviews you give and receive, and any problem you report.
- Notifications: the token your phone uses to receive them, and which kinds you want.
If you are a Fixer
- Everything above that applies to you, and:
- Your profile: trades, rates, discount, a short bio, and the area you work in.
- Your base location: where you start your day, used to match you to jobs nearby.
- Documents and certificates you send in, and whether they were approved.
- Your bank details: the name on the account, sort code and account number, for payouts.
- Your earnings and payouts, and photos of receipts for costs you add to a job.
- Your position while you travel to a booked job. See Location.
Who sees what
| What | Who sees it |
|---|---|
| A customer’s address | Before booking, Fixers see only the postcode district, such as E2. The one Fixer who is booked sees the full address, until a day after the job. |
| A customer’s request | Fixers nearby who are approved for the trade, while the request is open. |
| A Fixer’s profile | Customers see a Fixer’s name, photo, rating, rate and trades. |
| Phone numbers | A customer and the Fixer they have booked, for that job. |
| A Fixer’s position on the way | The customer they are travelling to, and nobody else. |
| Ratings | Customers see a Fixer’s rating and reviews. Fixers see a customer’s rating. |
| A Fixer’s bank details | The Fixert finance staff who send payouts, and nobody else. The app shows the Fixer the last four digits. |
| Documents and certificates | The Fixert staff who check them. |
| Reports and disputes | The Fixert staff who deal with them. The job’s timers and costs are attached. |
Fixert staff see only the parts of the console their role needs. Changes they make to accounts, payments and wallets are recorded under their name.
Location
- Customers: if you tap “Use my location” when adding an address, your phone’s position is used once to find the address. It is not tracked.
- Fixers: from the moment you start the trip to a booked job until you arrive, your position is shared with that customer. It stops when you arrive, and the trail is deleted. If you allow it, the app keeps sharing while you use a maps app on the way. At other times your position is not shared; jobs are matched to the base location you set.
Cards and payments
- Card payments are taken by Stripe. Your card goes from your phone to Stripe and never reaches Fixert. Fixert keeps the amount, the date and Stripe’s reference for each payment.
- If you tick the box to have your card remembered, Stripe keeps it, under Stripe’s privacy policy. Fixert then keeps only Stripe’s reference for you, so Stripe can offer the card next time. You can remove it on Stripe’s payment screen, or with “Forget my saved cards” in Payments; deleting your account removes it too.
Why we use it
- To provide the service you asked for: matching, booking, timing and paying for jobs, and paying Fixers. This is our contract with you.
- To keep the records the law requires, such as records of payments.
- To keep people safe and prevent fraud: checking Fixers, dealing with reports, and keeping a record of what staff do. This is in our legitimate interests and yours.
- To send you the notifications you have chosen. Offers and news are off unless you turn them on.
Services we use
These companies handle information for Fixert, each for one purpose:
| Service | For |
|---|---|
| Supabase | The database, signing in, and stored files such as photos and documents. |
| Stripe | Taking card payments and refunds, and remembering a card if you ask. |
| Expo | Delivering notifications to your phone. |
| Resend | Sending emails, such as the code to reset your password. |
| Apple Maps and Google Maps | Showing maps in the apps. |
| postcodes.io and getAddress.io | Looking up a postcode when you add an address. |
How long we keep it
- A Fixer’s position on the way to a job: until they arrive.
- A customer’s full address, as seen by the booked Fixer: until a day after the job.
- Your account and what is in it: while your account is open.
- Jobs, payments, refunds and payouts: kept as long as the law requires for financial records, without your name once your account is deleted.
Deleting your account
Delete your account in the app: Account in Fixert, Profile in Fixert Service. When you do:
- Your name, email address, phone number and photo are removed, and you can no longer sign in.
- The street line of your addresses is removed. The town and postcode stay with past jobs, so the other person’s records still say where the job was.
- Your notifications, notification settings and the token your phone used are deleted, and any card Stripe remembered for you is removed at Stripe.
- For Fixers: your documents, base location and bank details are deleted, and any offers you had open are withdrawn.
- Past jobs, receipts and ratings stay on record for the other person, without your name.
An account cannot be deleted while a job is open or unpaid, while a Fixer’s payout is in progress, or while there is money in a customer’s wallet. Spend it, or ask us to send it back to your card, first.
